The post-earthquake reconstruction, which is currently underway, has modified in L’Aquila the functional organization of the city, thus transforming the city’s road traffic with the aim of favoring the intensive use of trains as a service for metropolitan transport, by eliminating as many railway crossings as possible, and by constructing new railway stops and roads that will facilitate the connection between the new works. The overall project, as already pointed out beforehand, provides for the elimination of 14 railway crossings on the train route from San Demetrio to Sassa and the simultaneous creation of four more stops.
