Villa Tasca

Brembate (Bg)

The villa, dating back to the second half of the 19th century, was the residence of the Garibaldian Vittore Tasca, native of Brembate, a painter and friend of Giovanni Carnovali, known as “Il Piccio”, and Alexandre Dumas.

This architectural complex was revaluated thanks to its acquisition by the Municipality of Brembate, that made it available for cultural events and included it within a touristic route at a provincial and regional level. The architectural complex consists of several buildings built at different times: the Neoclassic villa, created from the extension of a pre-existing building, and two annexed houses originally intended to host a textile factory.

The buildings are located within a large park overlooking the Brembo River.

The renovation involved the remaking of the roof of the entire complex, maintaining its rooftop covering, re-using its original shingles. An aerated cavity around the perimeter walls to eliminate the capillary rise of water and aerated crawl spaces in the rooms on the ground floor were built, except for those of the Venetian floorings in the rooms of the Neoclassic villa, as perfectly preserved and non-removable. All wooden floors were strengthened and their structure adapted to standards by substituting the ruined parts; new vertical connections were made between the different floors of the complex with steel structures; ramps respecting the Architectural Barrier Act were built; and an elevator between the Neoclassic villa and its annexes was built. Furthermore, during the restoration work, the Venetian style flooring on the ground floor of the villa was preserved, the terracotta tiles still in a good condition were re-used, and new stone and wooden floors were built
